This will not do (Also, I'm tired of working on school projects and without any photos to post of recent craft and baking work, I'm basically going to throw photos of my cats at you).

Computers and cookies and Christmas

It's 2 weeks till finals and we've all been a little crazy around here. Large presentation due the yesterday, and even larger SQL project due Thursday. I've been dividing my time between homework and baking christmas cookies. I thought a little baking and a little sugar might ease my tired ol' brain. And Christmas is quickly approaching. I started the decorating (photos coming when I get time) and the X-mas knitting. And today it finally started snowing for the first time this winter, so I also spent some time prancing around outside. I have to confess, I actually did prance. I've missed my hand-knit hats and scarves. Sadly all gloves have been given away. OH NO! Excuse to make more gloves. *score* I really hope there's a white Christmas this year. We had a brown and wet one last year, and from my experience not very many good things are both brown and wet.

Ate turkey, must contemplate cookies

With much feasting and general stuffing of faces behind us, I decided to turn my attention towards Christmas cookies. When I was a child, we lived out in the country where people still brought over a fruitcake at Christmastime... only we were REALLY lucky because our neighbor pooh-poohed the fruitcake and brought over a mad plate of cookies. There must have been at least 20 different kinds (the same neighbor also baked a cake each year for grandma's birthday on Christmas... what a lovely neighbor, no?). In a fit of nostalgia, I decided I wanted to recreate the Christmas cookie plate of old. But on my scale, i.e. 8 to 10 kinds of cookies and not 20. I raided our Christmas decorations today, trying to ferret out those tacky old cookie tins so I can pass out home-baked goodness to all my friends (that and I'm a bit poor this Christmas, so cookies are about the only gifts I can afford to give). I might end up dropping some dough (HAH, I'm such a dork!) on quality disposable plates and go the Easter-basket-cellophaned route. Anyway, here is the menu this year:

I was thinking of making peanut butter cookies for The Boy, but I really want to make some sort of pumpkin cookie. Maybe a pumpkin spice ginger snap type thing? I need to find a recipe though.

I must go stuff my face with pie now. Otherwise I'm too incredibly full and happy to care that I am not posting regularly. Just a quick update though, I'm feeling a lot better and my back is not hurting hardly at all. So all is happy.

Oy

Well, I have gotten almost nothing done lately. Test week from hell + wicked bad head cold + excruciating back pain = no posts. It goes like this... I had all my crafting stuff piled on the guest bed, waiting to be put away in my nice, clean bookshelves. Well, I guess I worked too hard organizing because I've been laid up lately with awful back spasms and, until a few hours ago, I couldn't get out of bed. It sucked. Thanks to my amazing mother (who drove 2 hours at 3am to come take care of me), I am now able to sit up in bed. Since I'm not able to do much of anything else, I should be getting some much needed knitting done. I've missed it. The last time I went this long without knitting was when I got frustrated and had to put away all knitting for a few months.

On a different note, I've been researching some bread baking techniques for uber-high altitudes. Now that it's getting chilly, we could use a little heat in the kitchen. Our ceramic tile floors are pretty harsh on bare feet, and I've given away all the FuzzyFeet I've knitted. Must stop doing that. Bad hobbit. Bad.

Oh yeah, and I recently had a job interview. With any luck, I'll soon be employed at the local hospital doing SQL programming. Go me!

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I love to knit with merino, and soft wool blends. Anything that is so soft that it induces fondling. I fondle my yarn people. I HATE red heart. It's such a scratchy yarn, its awful. Oh, and chenille. @#$&*%! chenille. Soft and cushy yes, but a bitch and a half to knit with.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
I have a couple needle rolls, one for straights, and one for DPNs and circulars.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I've been knitting a couple years now. Taught myself everything, from reading books and online tutorials. I'm intermediate. I'm not afraid to try anything, the only thing that defeats me are long projects. Sweaters and garments have eluded me thus far.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products, etc.)
I love the smell of real orange blossoms, but it tends to be too intense in its manufactured form. I also like patchouli, and this scented oil called "Egyptian Goddess." And just in case you're wondering, I do in fact shave my pits.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
I love sweets a bit too much. Chocolate is my vice over other types of sugar. Dark chocolate is best, but good quality milk chocolate is also appreciated. I have recently found an affinity for gummi Life Savers too.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?
I sew on a machine, and I'm teaching myself to crochet. I spin with a drop spindle, but I am salivating over the pretty Kromski wheels I've seen. I also stencil and make jewelry.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I like a lot of music but I hate rap and R&B. Don't particularly like Country but there are some exceptions. I love old rock (Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd in particular), as well as some of the old 90s alternative bands.

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?
I have a lot of browns and blues in my closet. I'm trying to branch out though. I'm told that rosy pinks and deep reds look good on me. I like black but usually don't dress in all black except when I'm trying to go a bit more formal. Pink is ok for me, but I like it paired with brown a lot more. I dislike yellow, pastels, and bright colors (eg. I prefer navy blue to royal blue, sage green to bright green, etc.).

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I live with my boyfriend and our 4 fur children... our cats. We have 2 boys and 2 girls and they are spoiled brats. I also have 2 gerbils and 2 fish tanks (one 30gal planted and one 2gal betta tank).

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
I hate mittens but I will wear gloves. I like fingerless gloves a lot, since my computer is close to a drafty window. I used to not wear scarves until I started knitting. Now I love them, but only if they're soft. My neck is sensitive and itchy-ness is bad. Ponchos make me look like a barn... I generally avoid them. Hats are necessary here at 7500ft. and I wear them often, even in summer (ok, the real reason is that I have disobedient hair and it's easier to cover it up than try to fix it).

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
I love to make fingerless gloves, hats, and I'm starting my first sock project (I've made felted slippers, but those are on huge needles and I don't consider them a "sock"). I don't particularly love scarves mostly because I get really tired of them about halfway through. I love to knit bags, as I am a bit of a purse-a-holic.

13. What are you knitting right now?
FuzzyFeet for my dad, socks for me, bag for me, scarf for friend.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
Oh I love it. I love it as much as getting tools to MAKE handmade gifts. :)

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
I love circs and DPNs. I will knit on straights, but I prefer wood or the flexible Bryspun. I hate aluminum straights. They hurt my hands. I just ordered the KnitPicks Options set, but I wish it came with a 16" length. I guess I'll have to learn the magic loop technique.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?
I have two swifts, one made by my dad. I have a notespinne, but I suck at hand winding. I want a ball winder for Christmas.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?
Longer than a year. I have a tank top out of microspun that is about 66% finished, but I just can't seem to pick it up again.

18. What is your favorite holiday?
I LOVE halloween because I love spooky movies and stuff, but overall I love Christmas. I just love the cozy winter, the decorations, cookies, carols, etc. Plus the presents. I mean come on, everyone loves presents.

19. Is there anything that you collect?
Yarn (my stash is growing), boxes, interesting glass bottles, cool pens. I guess books too, I have literally almost a ton.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
Gosh, I would just love some Lantern Moon needles.... pretty. I also absolutely love Addi Turbo circulars and bryspun DPNs. I would love some great books on socks, but I mostly already have the books I have coveted (manic spending spree on Amazon one night). I have no knitting magazine subs, however. I don't know which are good and interesting, and which are (what I call) obnoxious and pretentious. Any suggestions?

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?
I'm trying to learn fair isle, and I would love to make a chullo. Getting better at lace would also be nice. I can read a pattern and all, but I have never had the patience to make anything large and lacy.

22. Are you a sock knitter?
I am just starting socks. I love handknit socks, but I'm not sure how I like knitting with 0's... it sure takes forever. Maybe I'd like it better if I did something other than just stockinette stitch the whole time. Booooring.

Spam Fried Rice

I used the recipe from Cooking Cute with a couple modifications (I used soy sauce instead of sake, and I didn't have any onions on hand). The Boy loved it, and was quite visibly sad when I told him we had eaten the whole batch. Now he's begging me to make it for dinner tomorrow night. I had a little spam leftover after making the recipe, so I sliced it thin and heated it up in a pan with some teriyaki sauce and served it along side the rice.

So yeah, I am officially saying that Spam is, in fact, not disgusting. Amazing, no?

Coffee, coffee, coffee.

I just finished my last swap for awhile (I'm so broke, y'all). But at least it was a success! I did a caffeine molecule on a shirt, as well as made some earrings out of coffee beans, and sent a coffee recipe book. Most of the recipes use coffee liqueuer, cuz I kind of am a drunk. Ok, not really, but sometimes? I don't know. It's late. This week has been a week of hell. 5 tests and homeworks and a project due... so alcohol is definately in the cards for the weekend. I just realized I went from talking about legitimate crafting to booze. Yeah, it's been a long week.

Weird

Today has been very strange. For some reason I didn't hear my alarm this morning and slept through two classes. Then, as I went to my car, I discovered someone had written "I love cats" and other such silly things in glass chalk on my windows (eventually found out who it was). My third class (computer lab) gets cancelled, The Boy's cell phone goes into no-signal-land for awhile, and I dropped a cordless phone on my foot while shopping for such items. Now it's 10pm, and the doorbell rings. No one is there, but there is a book about cats and a Jelly Belly gummi rat on my doorstep. Is today Freak-Out-Mary-Day? Because it's working. I mean, yeah I love gummi rats, but still, this is too weird.

Posting About Not Posting

Hey all. I have a huge database project due this week so I haven't had much to post about. I did get a little more done on the Sandy cardigan. Got one whole back panel finished and started the second. Unfortunately photos and further progress will have to wait until the database of doom is finished.

Socks and box

I finished my dad's birthday present, a pair of slippers. I have not yet felted them, but I plan on doing that tonight. They are SOOOOOOO easy to knit and knit up really quickly. I did one whole sock in 2 hours while watching Court TV.

Cats in the Night

So y'all have heard me rant on our kitten, Tweek. Tweekie McTweekersons. Well he's got a new name now. Spazmondo the Psychotic Feline. Last night, The Boy and I went out to get some late night fast food. It was a normal night, dark and chilly and smelling of fires in fireplaces. Cozy Flagstaff. Then the storm broke.

We no more than cracked the door to come in when Tweek streaked out into the front yard. Too stunned to close the door fast enough, Frodo was able to follow. Normally when the boys get out, they go down two apartments and flop in the dirt to roll around. Nope. Not this time. Tweek takes off at light speed. I mean seriously people, he was a streak. You couldn't have told the difference between him and any other cat.

So the boys race around the back of the building and into darkness. I grabbed the treat jar and started rattling. I hear a galloping noise and some strange cat-like grumblings. Fur flies past my feet. Then Tweek approaches me in the hopes of treats. I grab him, hand him to The Boy who promptly puts Tweek inside. NO! Tweek escapes again, although luckily contained by the back yard fence. Quickly grabbed and stuffed inside, I go in search of Frodo.

Frodo totally blends into the shadows. He's the Ninjacat. Luckily for me, the neighbors cat was staring intently at a corner of its yard so I was able to find the Fro. I called him once and he came over like "Hey mom, there's cat poop in this yard. I was just smelling it, but I'll go inside now." The ordeal over, I take my cat and go home.

...

And Tweek escapes AGAIN! This time he's running light speed across the front yard, back and forth, back and forth. His tail is bushy. He's doing the sporadic kitten-jumping-sideways-while-running thing, and generally being completely insane. It takes The Boy and I almost 20 minutes to catch the little bastard. If that wasn't enough, we then had to listen to Tweek wail and moan at the doors of the house begging to be let out.

I swear, I don't know how we deal with him.

Tasha, Tasha, Tasha!

Well, part of it anyway. I have the bottom and one side done. This is my first foray into cabelling and I am liking it so far. The simple cable on Tasha is perfect, and very easy to memorize with only a 7 row repeat. Sorry for the crap photo. Late night combined with poor lighting means blurry photo. The flash photo was worse. Ah well.

LA Loot and Angry Cat

So my parents recently took a cruise to Mexico that left from the Port of Los Angeles. I just had to jump at the opportunity to make my mother go to Mitsuwa and bring me back goodies. And bless the lovely woman, she got me what I wanted and more! Check out the goods:


A ton of Pocky in my favorite flavors, a bento and toys, strawberry gummies, an awesome steamer, and all the Ramune I can drink. Go mom.

In other news, Evie was apparently quite angry with me for cleaning up the house and destroying her hiding places... dirty laundry, open closets, unorganized yarn stash. You get the idea.

Unproductivity and Felting

Today has been spent mooning over new projects and not working on any current ones. I'm planning on knitting Sandy from Big Girl Knits, and I'm still working out what colors and changes I am going to make. On the upside, I did finish knitting my mother's scarf. It's in Patons Bohemian, and I will get a pic of her wearing it when she visits cold Flagstaff.

Over the weekend, I was productive. I finished and felted my new bag. I knit it out of Paintbox in a lovely blue and purple mix. However, when I pulled it out of the washer, it had holes! Two large holes! People, I'm talking holes the size of half dollars, not dimes. I swore loudly and still can't figure out how that happened, unless the makers of Paintbox did something to denature the wool. All is not lost, as I plan to sew in a pocket and use one hole as a cell phone pouch. The other hole I'm going to disguise with some sort of felted flower. It is sitting in shame in my mom's washing room. I'm not sure if I forgot it, or left it purposely out of spite and frustration. But anyway, on her visit she will bring it and I can hopefully salvage the thing.

Grrrr.

Yarn and Being Nosy

Whoo hoo! I got some new Trekker XXL yarn in a GORGEOUS colorway. I am housesitting at the moment, so I will have to post photos when I get back home. Just excited is all.

OMG Productivity!

So this weekend was nice 'n relaxing. The Boy and I played World of Warcraft a lot, and then he took me out to a burger joint for a date. I loves me flame grilled cow. But aside from that, we've done a whole lotta nothing this weekend. I've been taking many naps. That's about it... until tonight. I got really angry at how dirty the house is (see earlier post), so tonight I decreed that the kitchen be cleaned. I would have taken some before photos, but I don't want Cat Protective Services to come and take away my babies. But voila! Here is my cleaned kitchen in all it's tiny, cramped glory.

My First Jewelry

Ok, here ya go. An actual craft post!

I started making jewelry recently, and the "Tree of Life" necklaces have become my favorite thing to make. They're super easy, and there's a tutorial here for those interested.

Heck yes!

Having a bum camera (hmm, sounds weird. I mean a non-working camera) for awhile really sucked because I had so much stuff made for different swaps. But good news, the camera is working, so I'm going to post a couple retroactive photos of recent stuff I've done.

I have successfully completed a DPN and Circular needle roll. I even have ideas on how to improve the basic design. Fancy, eh?

The Sickness

So today I've been sick. Mostly just icky tummy and backache. But I felt a lot better when a strange box appeared at the door. Then I realized that the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino that I ordered eons ago and forgotten had finally arrived. So fondling new yarn is definately something I plan to do this evening.

I was also thinking how no one ever reads this blog. It's kinda depressing. Although what should I really expect? I don't promote it, nor do I want to. I don't update daily. I rarely update about crafts. I've joined the ranks of all the other faceless internet bloggers who say a lot to very few. Just having one of those days I guess. Forgive the melancholy. I'll be better in the morning.

My not-so-stunning epiphany

I came home today in utter dispair, as I surveyed the damage that a lazy boyfriend and girlfriend can wreak on a household. Especially when there's 4 cats to throw in a little surprise barf or piddle. And I came to a realization.... The reason I am not being in any way productive lately is because I literally have nowhere to do said production. The desk is a mess with crafting supplies, the sewing table has become the "I don't want to put away laundry, let's heap the clean stuff over here" surface of doom, and the knitting has migrated into 3 rooms now. I need to clean, y'all. It's bad. So I'm dedicating this blog, at least for awhile, to my cleaning misadventures. And no, this doesn't mean that we're going into a season of 3 months with no posts since I didn't do anything about cleaning... I hope.

Friggin' school

Ok, so school has been keeping me pretty damned busy lately. But I did manage to do SOME crafting. Again, it's for gifts though so I can't post until after they have been received. But here's a couple of photos to tide you over until them...

So I started to feel guilty about all my WIPs. It got to the point where I was comparing my progress in life to the basket of half-knitted shame in my living room. SOOOOooooo I finished Knucks. I have to also guiltily admit, I also finished them because it's getting cold here at night and I can't be pursuaded to leave the computer when my hands get cold.

I made these out of Reynold's Odyssey 100% merino on size 6 needles. This yarn is awesome, super soft, and the camera doesn't do the colorway justice. It's color 441 Purple Mix. I'm definately going to start making more of these. I think there are a few ways to improve on the pattern though, so I'm going to try that next time.

Damn.

I've been crafting my head off here, and I can't post any photos because all my crafting has been for swap partners on Craftster. But let's see, what else have I done lately that I can talk about...

Started learning UNIX today in my CIS 320 class. I've worked with it some, but definately am a n00b. It's funny, when I don't know the UNIX command I try to use the DOS command, just like when I don't know the German word I try to use the Spanish word. Maybe that's only funny to me. And maybe it's not funny. But it's interesting (no it's not). Ahem.

So the current standing of my knitting WIPs: one Patons Bohemian garter stitch scarf, one soy silk drop stitch scarf, Paint Box purse that will eventually be felted, Banana Silk purse, one alpaca blend lace wrap, and one of two fingerless gloves completed. The scarves, purses, and wrap are all in various states of unfinished-ness. I'm trying to curb my desire to knit with some of my new yarns... I got Sari Silk, and this super soft stuff that I"m not sure what it is.... kind of a cross between boulce and fun fur, but not nearly as disgusting as that combination sounds. I'm also waiting for some yarn to come in to make MagKnit's Odessa hat for my friend.

As for the cats, someone has been puking in devious little places that I either find by foot, or spy whilst eating. Either way is unpleasant. Frodo is usually the one blamed for everything, but this morning I heard a hacking while Frodo was present for his morning cuddle, so it can't be him. Unless... do you think cats can psychically bi-locate, and Frodo was simultaneously puking on my living room rug while being petted and kissed by me before I got out of bed? Scary thought.

Ok, it's been awhile.

I haven't been lazy about crafting, I've just been lazy about posting. Haven't been doing a whole lot of knitting lately (translation: been knitting my head off but nothing is getting finished). I did however start making stitch markers. I will post a bunch of stuff this weekend as it's a 3 day weekend (YAY!).

I also just turned 25. I'm now halfway through my twenties. I pretend like it bothers me more than it actually does. For my birthday, The Boy bought me a season of the Simpsons, flowers, and this gorgeous necklace. I lurve it.

Received from my first real swap.

I got my bag from my first real Craftster swap the other day. OMG it rawks.
I love the material! Among the loot are some amazing stitch markers, cat themed patches, a couple of journals and some yarn. Was so happy to get the package. Everything was so awesome.

Last night I made some earrings too. First earrings I've ever made really. Finaly busted up one of the old keyboards I got at the thrift store for $1. They're just keys with some random beads. I didn't have any resistors so I couldn't use them, and the keyboard's resistors didn't have long enough tails to make them worthwhile harvesting. Still, I'm happy with the result. I've been making stitchmarkers like a mad hatter (or mad stitchmarker-er?) but I'm too tired to take photos right now.

OMG CATS!!!!!!!!!

@#$&@#$#@!!!!! When I came home today, the mason jar with the potho cutting was tipped over, and the cutting was all wilty with a dried-looking root! I put it back in water in a safer place. Evelyn, I've got my eye of sauron on you.

OMG Plants!

Check it y'all, I've been busy! I'll try to keep the photos down, so you'll just have to promise to go to my Flickr account to see them all!

The little mason jar is my potho cutting. The large leaf is a little mangled thanks to Evie, but the cutting seems to be putting out a nice root, and has already developed another leaf. Haven't decided if I'm going to try to pot it, or just let it be a jar plant.

This is my "cutting" table. The two large coleus were new plants, but the other little things are my cuttings and seeds. I have a baby spider plant in the back there, two dilapidated coleus staked up with toothpicks, some strawberry seeds in the pot o' dirt, and an avacado pit that's sprouting any day now.

And lastly, my prideful plant shelf. It's my main shelf and the only spot in the house that gets any decent amount of sun. I got me purty spidey plant, two geraniums (top and bottom shelf), my herb garden, my ficus, and the random pots on the top shelf are cat grass (not sprouted yet) and garlic!

"Not So Crazy But Very Rambling" Ramblings

It's practically a parade of packages persistently present on my porch. So far I've received 3 packages, all containing the textbooks I ordered online for cheap( yay!). My mom told me she mailed me a box of pants... yes, pants. There is a reason, but I just don't want to get into it right now. Ya know? Anyway, so I'm expecting that. My boyfriend also ordered a new computer, so we should be getting his box soon, as well as a box from my best friend for my birthday. Can't wait to see what she sent. Love you, Liz. Other than that, I ordered a new camera off of Newegg. I really shouldn't have spent the money, but the big honker of a camera I have now is just too much to carry around. And I want to be all stealthy with my photo abilities, and spring out the camera at a moments notice to capture all the exciting things happening in my life. No for real, my life is exciting! I swear! Shut urp!

In other news, yesterday was Plant Tuesday at Chez Mary, and today is Clean-My-Messy-Ass-House Wednesday. See, told you my life was exciting. Well, at least about the plant part. I bought some new herbs to make a potted herb garden in my kitchen. I got basil, rosemary, and sage. I'm also placing my bamboo in the middle in hopes that the aromatics will deter Evelyn from eating the damn stuff. Two new coleus plants joined the family, as well as a hot pink geranium and a ficus. I have no fucking clue why I bought a ficus, but it was small and pretty and I had some sense of "every house needs a tree." Now I have to find out how to take care of a ficus because, honestly, I have no friggin clue.

And lastly, I saw this today and I friggin love it.

Knitting, Australopithecines, and Darth Vader

What part about "I need to just sit down and finish one... just one... of my poor forgotten projects" did I not understand? I got into a knitting frenzy this last weekend, and now I have more unfinished projects!!!! I was working on a scarf for a friend of mine... just stash busting really. See, awhile ago I got over-ambitious and thought "Hey, what would be fun to knit? I know! A stockinette stitch black sweater!" And that is how I ended up with about 10 skeins of black boring Caron Simply Soft. Well, I guess it's better than having 10 skeins of red heart. At least this stuff is actually soft. Anyway I also knitted one of Knucks. So even though that one glove is done, it doesn't have a mate and therefore sits, as Kim puts it, in the Knitting Basket of Shame.

In other musings, I was up till 4am last night talking with my boyfriend about various things. The first was a 30 minute lecture on Australopithecus afarensis. I know, its sad that I know the latin name. But oh well. We got to talking about Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles (which he's read) and the theory that Jesus was a vampire. Amusing. As if that weren't enough, I started blabbing about medieval history, and how I enjoy that era the most. And then there was the discussion of Constantine and the Roman Empire. Oh yes, we talked about many things.

Our evening ended on a more contemporary note. We were discussing what it is that makes Darth Vader so awesome. His view is that Vader is a very Git'R'Done type of leader. I argued that it is Vader's incredible stillness that makes him great. I mean think about it. The Emperor is essentially a chatty cathy doll, who is always yapping and yammering about something. Vader is stealty and silent. Much more imposing in my opinion.

Works in Progress

That amuses me. Works in Progress. In my house, they're called Works making no Progress. I currently have two pairs of socks, a tank top (which I started a loooooong time ago), two scarves (one started over a year ago), a dish cloth, a hat, and Kate sitting around all sad because they are not being worked on. For some reason I've developed real knitting ADD lately. It's normal for me to have a battleground of unfinished projects strewn helplessly around my house. But this is rediculous. And I keep planning the next shawl, or hat, or something that I'm going to make. I need to just sit down and finish one... just one... of my poor forgotten projects. If for no other reason than I need the damn needles and I don't want to buy a duplicate set. I know, I know, I could thread a lifeline through the work and just take the needles... but then I know I'd never finish the project because it would require reinsertion of said needles. And let's face it, I'm too damned lazy to do that.

On the upside, I finally finished the bag I was making for the Caftster Fill A Purse Swap. I also got it sent out a few days early. This is unheard of. I still have a package sitting around for my friend's Christmas present. That's Christmas as in Christmas '05. In fairness to me, I sent the thing out in Feb. and it came back to me in late May for some unknown reason. But still, now you understand the proudness of getting something mailed out early!

Back to knitting, I have decided my next project will be a Kitty Pi. Lord knows my cats are spoiled brats (HA! that rhymed!), but I don't make them wear hats, and I call Mia "fats." And ok I'll stop with the bad cat poetry now. The cats really do need a new kitty bed though. My hope is they'll love it, sleep in it, and in doing so deposit all their hair instead of depositing their shed all over my couch. I'll keep you posted on the results.
